For me art is not an act that makes a difference neither a revolution. It’s not a solution, it does not even point to the problem.
Artists are no elite or avant -gardes, even if they think they are.
Art is not politics and artists are not politicians, therefore art has no nationality it is rather an act of so many individuals in the same space, same field. Even when some art works use nationalism as a concept or a subject, only the structure, form and purpose are the elements that define art… Continue

In some of the texts you can read:
"Syria, cradle of civilization"
"From the most ancient times Syria knows how to make a stranger become a friend"
"Syria, a pleasure for the mind and the heart"

Hi Adel,
sorry for this delay..
are you still up for assignment number 9?
I have my visa for Syria now, after 2 visits to the embassy in Buenos Aires.
The building looks similar to this one, with a flag up in the front. The offices are in the basement, the first time i was there i waited in a room until I was received by a man who gave me the application form. He was not alone in the offices, there was another man who lended me a pen, and made some jokes... i thought: nice, i need to relax before the question and answer session.
So I completed the form, I wrote I was a graphic designer, the purpose of the trip: tourism, I was travelling alone, I was staying at the Al Haramein Hotel, I have never been in ocuppied palestinean territories...
Then the serious guy asked me for the 2 photos, and the purpose of my trip.
- Tourism
(this is the part where my mouth gets dry and i need to swallow)
- Why????- he replies
I explain i was near there before, i was in Lebanon, I loved it, I want to go back to the region. I explain that I visited Lebanon when i was studying abroad. (my mouth is so dry)
- Are you travelling alone???
- Yes.
- ....
Where are you going?
- Damasco (all the conversation was in spanish)
- Do you know somebody there?
- I know somebody, a friend I've met when i was living in Holland, but he is not going to be there when i get there.
I have contacted the art association i mention in the form, but i dont know them personally.
Then he asked what is my job, and who do i work for. I tried not to mention too much, i work freelance and for and art foundation that runs an art magazine.
He looks systematically at the paper, and at me, the paper, and then again at me.
Last thing he said was: one entry..
- No, multiple please
-You want to visit Lebanon?
- I didn't decide yet, i think it would be nice.
...
The second time I was there was to get back my passport. I remember that this assignment was in my head the first time i was there, but only now i could pay attention to it. I tried to memorize in my head all the images, so many poster of Syria from the eighties, very saturated colours, now washed away, and beautiful fonts. Women, ruins, mosques. Same man, same offices; he asked me my name and brings me my passport. He shows me proudly the stamp, i said thanks. He comes back with it and i asked him if he has some touristic material about Syria. He goes to his office and comes back with a red booklet. I choose some pictures from it...
and you can tell me what does it say in my visa stamp, in the remarks line, as well...
