i guess art is almost about stories, living stories and telling stories, and this became more competitive with the wild spread of media and communication facilities. ARAB for a consedered period have been subject to vacuming and drying, the flatness of political and economic dialogue in the Arab modern history lead to a kind of desperation, pistimism, proticitvity and detachement, ARAbs no longer tend to tell stories, this is mixed with two poles: HUMILATION and FACISM. ask an arab what happened to u lately and the answer will be NOTHING IMPORTANT. the political polarization that goes as far as NAMING ISLAM AFTER ARAB lead to a kind of invisible parriars, just like teh VEIL, and though the african or the asians were no less subject to economic crisis and religious disciplaine. but still there is a different between how those different cultures produced art and how the EUROPIAN ART has his UPPER WORD over the rrest communities.
see for example the japaness art: teh japness looked at art as source of beauty in teh roral romantic sense, and while they developed very well in every other aspect of economy, they never mixed the geners : so they made great arhcitecture but tehy dont call it art, they make great products, but they dont use teh word art. in fact they use the word art to describe what is consedered art for thousand years. that is why ART in japan did not develop. cuz it had specific function of beauty. they other life aspect were developing artistically but they never consedered as art.
the europian approach to art was totally the opposet, art was rolling and grinding and swinging across the whole aspects of man ACTIVTY: from painting to ready made to architector, to video to internet, today all industries are refered to as ART in teh west.
in syria for example DAMASCUS has ruled the cultural scene cuz it is teh capital of country and wealth.
the damasene are one of teh most rooted merchandery in the world. and they reach to teh ultimate wisdom of MONEY EQUALS MONEY, GOLD EQUALS GOLD. so tehy never easly conseder any abstract meaning of wealth for the local policy a paint is paper and wood and skillful hand. fullstop on line.
u can see teh big difference in attitude between dams and allepo: in alepo the economey is about CRAFTSHIP and this reflected on teh city ARCHETECTURAL heritage which is more diverese and richer. then comes to music , food and painting... cultural life is rich in alepo. ppl spend on life style. MONEY COULD BE EQUAL TO ABSTRACT VALUES such PLEASURE, STATUS, LOOK, IMAGE.
in syria, painting and sculpture are teh domenant forms of art. they are belonging to teh CRAFTSHIP they are about efforts and labor and this fit very much teh metrialistic attitude of teh country.
they funny thing is that though islam is against icnographia, but teh syrian art is strictlty devided between fgorative and abstraction. and figorative are mostly human being. this is funny to compare with teh japanese paint where the animals are themselvs a religious personification.
why instalation and other arts in syria not as strong as the painting and sculpture? first cuz they are not commodities.
second cuz the economic condetion is totally the opposite of teh condetion was in the WEST that lead to the evolution in arts.
in europe the technological boom put thier full capacity in teh hands of artists . sony and national electric destributed the cameras and screen , artist were creating and companies were discovering the potentials of the technology.
in syria we see teh opposet. the technology is not local but imported, and the merchandery are greedy adn they got teh products with teh advertisment right from teh company. so in fact they are niot ready to spend a peny on art seen. and what we see of grants and sponsorships is nothing but a fake and emitation of advertising lissons of economy faculties.
we can notice the difference between syria and dubai. in dubai the wealth overcame teh greed and the governemnt are ready to pay any price to recover for teh poverty of national artistic history.

Lately i was very much overtaken by the political impact on the media, art and other socially- effective geners; the end of hippies and the crisis of art scene in western society after the fall of communism and the reduction of governmental support to art institutions! Which revealed the Abuse of art as propaganda. Next comming the falling walls and how art undergo the big changes.... all that afected myworks and benterated my intimacy and privacy.
Statement
My very recent interests is more about art management rather than art making. We have been hearing slogans such SHOOT FILM DONT SHOOT MISSILES ... i guess art- while pretends to be naive - it is carrying straight political messages , add to this the value of the art market, sudenly we find ourself face to face with CORPORATION rather than with tools of expression. All these make it fun to meet and talk .
